This month, I read an article titled The Best Way to Nap, by Leslie Finlay in Readers Digest's November 2022 edition. The article details three types of naps. A 20-30 minute nap allows full relaxation. Next, a sixty minute nap repairs tissues, fortifies the immune system, and recharges energy stores. Finally, a ninety minute nap completes all those cycles.
Of note, any nap longer than ninety minutes interferes with sleep and might impair memory retention, according to the Journal of American Geriatrics Society. For more information on sleep and other mental issues, click below for the APA website.
